Lynchburg Pilates Embrace the Journey
Gretchen

Graduate of the National Pilates Certification Program

Gretchen Perkins is a native Virginian, growing up in Richmond and then later moving to Lynchburg. She graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in Management, pursued a career in banking and then later moved to selling Real Estate.  Gretchen started practicing Pilates in a little studio in downtown Lynchburg back in 2005. She found relief from back pain and gained some fantastic friends along the way. In 2020, the opportunity to go through teacher training was offered and now Gretchen is trained in all aspects of Classical Pilates. She can teach Mat, Reformer, Ladder Barrel, Spine Corrector, Cadillac and the Stability Chair.

One of the biggest benefits of including pilates as a major part of my wellness regime is how strong I feel physically and mentally now. With the right commitment, the changes happen subtly over time and Gretchen was just the right person to motivate me. She became my coach in February of 2021. Her knowledge of Pilates and breath work combined with intuition and personal commitment helped me to growth in strength and mobility. She plans incrementally with my physical condition and challenge level in my mind. Whenever I may have had an injury from another activity, she was always able to plan around it in order to keep me aimed at my goals. Practices are always varied and fün, even in a group setting. Her positive vibe is infectious! She is able to cue movement for the various student levels in class, so we work individually and yet all together. Gretchen's support and her caring personality have been a huge blessing to me and to many of her students. Having Gretchen as " the coach in my corner" has helped me to grow in so many

ways.
